Low voltage electrochemistry is used to reversibly combine and separate droplets of liquid metal (eutectic gallium indium). Like the source and drain in a field-effect transistor, these droplets can be used as an electrical switch for digital logic. The results were recently reported in Advanced Science and is now available online [ publisher link] [pdf].
