Paper on ”Thubber” in PNAS

“High thermal conductivity in soft elastomers with elongated liquid metal inclusions” was accepted for publication in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and is now available online [ publisher link] [pdf]. This work presents “Thubber” a soft and stretchable elastomer composite that exhibits metal-like thermal conductivity. This extraordinary combination of material properties makes these composite suitable for managing heat in stretchable electronics and thermally actuated soft robots. Examples include a stretchable high power LED lamp and SMArk, a swimming robot capable of caudal fin locomotion:
