Article in Advanced Materials on a new set of highly elastic nanocomposites that have high dielectric constant. The composites are made of nanoscale droplets of liquid metal suspended in a soft rubber matrix. Unlike other dielectric elastomer with liquid metal, these nanocomposites do not exhibit a significant reduction in electrical breakdown strength. This makes these materials ideally suited for dielectric elastomer generators and actuators.
